Creator of Composite Diamond Coating®

Surface Technology, Inc. is the creator and technical leader of CDC - Composite Diamond Coating®, an exceptionally engineered coating of electroless nickel with fine diamond. The synergy of these materials makes CDC an exceptionally hard and wear resistant coating. CDC conforms to even the most complex geometries and is an excellent replacement for chrome plating. STI makes CDC available via coating services from its production facility as well as chemical products sold directly, through a network of distributors, and by agreement with licensees worldwide.

Contact STI for One-Plate® Electroless Nickel solutions, the simplest EN in the world. These One-Plate® systems use just one “Q” solution for both bath make-up and replenishment. This innovation by STI overcomes the many shortcomings of using three A, B, and C solutions. Available in low, medium, high phosphorous, and composite EN varieties. Naturally, all are RoHS compliant.”

TraceCoat® - Breakthrough Authentication Coating Technology

What is TraceCoat®?

  • Composite metal coatings containing specialty materials
  • Detectible with portable electronic readers

Benefits

Authentication and identification properties in metallic coatings with a metallurgical bond to the base product

How Secure is TraceCoat®?

  • Patented materials
  • Proprietary and patented processes
  • Sophisticated electronic readers
  • Multiple varieties to provide extensive levels of authentication
  • A tremendous deterrent to potential counterfeiters

How do the TraceCoat® Detectors Work?

  • Hand held against a product
  • Readings within seconds
  • Pass/Fail or quantifiable readings available
  • Rechargeable
  • Results downloadable to a computer
  • Customization of the design and display
  • Authentication can be confirmed by manufacturers, buyers/retailers, customs officials, consumers

On What Can TraceCoat® be Used?

  • Any metal, alloy or plastic product
  • Products of any size or shape
  • In existing plating processes
  • As a new plating for products

What Varieties are Available?

  • Any type of plating
    • Electrolytic, Electroless/Chemical, Brush
    • Nickel, Chrome, Gold, Silver, Copper, Tin, Brass, Palladium, Iron, Cobalt, Zinc, Rhodium, Lead, Cadmium, and many others
    • Composite coatings with diamond, PTFE, ceramics, and others
  • Any thickness
    • From microns to mils thick are possible, depending on the application
  • Complete coverage of a product or on selected areas only

How reliable is TraceCoat®?

  • TraceCoat® combines well established plating processes with a proven authentication product already used in currencies and high security applications
  • Detection of TraceCoat® is infinitely repeatable with a fast, non-invasive test
  • Numerous different TraceCoat® materials with unique identifiable signatures
    • That can be used alone or in combination with each other to provide customized "codes" within the coating

Can TraceCoat® be Applied to Products that are Already Plated?

  • Yes, if a product is already being plated, adding TraceCoat® is very economical
    • The plating, energy, labor, overhead, administration, and other costs remain the same. There is just a small cost to add the TraceCoat® materials to an existing plating process
  • And aside from providing authenticating properties, it has virtually no affect on the plating
    • So little of the TraceCoat® materials are required that they essentially do not affect the appearance, surface, hardness, corrosion resistance, magnetic or other properties of the plating

Does Adding TraceCoat® Materials Affect an Existing Plating?

  • The TraceCoat® materials are inert and easy to use
  • TraceCoat® materials are specially formulated to work effectively in any existing plating process
  • The TraceCoat® materials may even be removed from a plating bath if the plater ever desires to have the bath without the TraceCoat® properties

How Can TraceCoat® be Applied to Products Not Already Plated?

  • In applications not currently plated, TraceCoat® is highly economical
  • Plating can be done in many varieties to best suit the product
  • Plating can be done in highly efficient commercial plating operations
  • Adding plating often allows the base product to be made from a lower cost, lighter, easier to manufacture, or otherwise better choice of base material

What do the TraceCoat® Detectors Look Like?

  • Various models depending on the need of the application and individual
