Creator of Composite Diamond Coating®

Surface Technology, Inc. is the creator and technical leader of CDC - Composite Diamond Coating®, an exceptionally engineered coating of electroless nickel with fine diamond. The synergy of these materials makes CDC an exceptionally hard and wear resistant coating. CDC conforms to even the most complex geometries and is an excellent replacement for chrome plating. STI makes CDC available via coating services from its production facility as well as chemical products sold directly, through a network of distributors, and by agreement with licensees worldwide.

Contact STI for One-Plate® Electroless Nickel solutions, the simplest EN in the world. These One-Plate® systems use just one “Q” solution for both bath make-up and replenishment. This innovation by STI overcomes the many shortcomings of using three A, B, and C solutions. Available in low, medium, high phosphorous, and composite EN varieties. Naturally, all are RoHS compliant.”

Composite Diamond Coating®™ - Golf Applications

Surface Technology, Inc. has made the golf industry's long awaited dream a reality...golf clubs coated with diamond, the hardest material known to man. Please watch this video created by a passionate golf club refinisher to learn why STI is so excited to make Composite Diamond Coating® available for golf clubs.

Composite Diamond Coating® provides the following significant performance advantages.

  • The USGA has ruled that Composite Diamond Coating® conforms to USGA rules (USGA Decision Number 94-307).
  • On irons and woods:
    • Golf balls struck by clubs featuring a smooth version of Composite Diamond Coating® go over 7% farther than balls struck by identical uncoated clubs. And, Composite Diamond Coating® has no affect on ball dispersion.
  • On wedges:
    • Composite Diamond Coating® with a controlled roughness provides the optimal amount of spin on a golf ball, and the exceptional wear resistance of this coating provides a longer lasting and more consistent club performance.
  • On Putters:
    • A smooth version of Composite Diamond Coating® preserves the shape and feel of the hitting face to with a controlled roughness provides the optimal amount of spin on a golf ball, and the exceptional wear resistance of this coating provides a longer lasting and more consistent club performance.
  • On all golf clubs, Composite Diamond Coating®:
    • Offers multiple advantages essential to golf equipment including unsurpassed hardness, outstanding anti-corrosion properties, high impact durability and abrasion resistance.
    • Conforms perfectly to all shapes including even the most intricate grooves and engravings on golf clubs.
    • Can be applied to all metals used to produce golf clubs including stainless steel, titanium, and aluminum; cast, forged or milled.
    • Has an attractive appearance that can be tailored to meet a variety of cosmetic preferences, and may also be subsequently finished by polishing, blasting, tumbling, varnishing, painting, or any other method.

ROBOTICS TESTING OF GOLF CLUBS ENHANCED BY COMPOSITE DIAMOND COATING®
During its golf application development program, Surface Technology, Inc. enlisted an independent laboratory to evaluate the performance of golf clubs featuring Composite Diamond Coating®. Testing was performed outdoors on an electro-mechanical hitting machine on a field duplicating fairway conditions. All clubs (coated and uncoated) were constructed with frequency matched shafts and had identical lofts, lies, head weights and swing weights. Precise center hits were done on all clubs with identical balls. Weather conditions were ideal for testing.

This testing demonstrated an increase in ball distance of more than 7% is achievable from Composite Diamond Coating® golf clubs. The following illustrates one example from this testing which was replicated on other irons and woods.
